Lost & Found
The inspiration for this piece came from a hike in the forest at sunset, with the light holding its last breath. There’s something about the way light moves through trees at the end of the day - it feels like the world is both letting go and holding on at the same time. When it was complete, I had no name for it. I sat with it for a couple of months. I kept coming back to it. Kept asking what it should be called. And then, with a little time and distance it told me.
Lost and Found.
Because that’s the journey, isn’t it? My paintings have me chasing the light, which sometimes means stepping into something unfamiliar - somewhere you’re not sure you belong. And then the light finds you anyway.
I'm almost sure that this painting marks the beginning of a new series. I have yet to name the series, but the only way I'll be sure is to continue painting more. Time will tell. It always does.
